12/01/00 pm: As usual, Monday’s beef trade will be slow, sales light to moderate. Offerings will be moderate, demand light. Prices will be weak to lower and cutouts are expected to close lower. Packers may cut slaughter this week to 660,000 or less to shore up beef prices and get boxes cleaned up. Packers have margin to end the week but down significantly from recent past weeks. Since packers paid steady prices for cattle this past week, margin this coming week will erode a little more if beef prices are lower as expected. Sltr Est: 129,000
